Founder, ex-MarineI n the early 2000s, e-commerce was still a nascent concept. While others were selling books and electronics online, Jack saw a gap in the market. Gun and ammunition sales were still largely a brick-and-mortar affair. The idea of a website dedicated to firearms and related products was, to many, a preposterous notion. But Jack was undeterred.
He started small, in a spare bedroom of his parents’ house. With a second-hand computer and a dial-up modem, he built a basic website. The design was crude by today’s standards, but it was functional. He began by listing a modest inventory of ammunition he’d accumulated over the years. His target market was the niche community of competitive shooters and hunters he knew well. Word of mouth spread quickly among this tight-knit group.
